Modern CTS audio pots seem to be close to a 10% taper, which means that at 5 it will measure 25k (for comparison, Alpha pots tend to be 20%, i.e. 50k at 5).

Alpha is pretty mediocre but they tend to be the go-to pot since they're easily sourced, relatively cheap, and relatively well made.
